Scottish Borders Smr Note

An embanked cruciform structure discernable in the grazed surface. Probably originally a turf walledshelter made up of four walls meeting in themiddle.Similar structures in stone can still be seen inthe Borders, and older turf crosses are recordedon the Yorkshire Wolds (see J R Mortimer, 1905,Forty years researched in the British and Saxonburial mounds of East Yorkshire).
