An aerial transcription was produced from oblique aerial photographs. Information from Historic Environment Scotland (BM) 31 March 2017.

The cropmark lies close by a trench system of the First World War depicted on a a War Department map dated 1916 (The National Archives WO 78/4417), guarding the southern approaches to the Tay Bridge.
