Two quarry scoops are situated on the SW scarp of a natural rise immediately above the NW shore of Loch Insh. The upper scoop takes the form of a circular platform measuring 4m in diameter, which is cut back into the grass-grown NW slope to a depth of 0.4m. The lower scoop, which is situated 13m to the S, measures 5m in diameter and 0.8m deep. Further small scale grass-grown quarries are situated on natural rises 20m to the SW and 90m to the NW respectively (NH 82631 04620; NH82584 04726).
