Watching Brief (7 August 2011 - 10 August 2011)
NG 59160 20250 A desk-based assessment, walkover survey and watching brief were carried out 7–10 August 2011 in advance of groundworks for a new house. The watching brief uncovered two discrete archaeological features; a single pit and the capstone for a possible cist, both located outside of the main development area. The pit was excavated and samples recovered for radiocarbon dating, but the potential cist capstone was not disturbed and mitigation measures were put in place to safeguard the features during the developments at the site.
