Evidence for discovery: found re-used in the foundations of the old parish church when it was demolished in 1787 and taken to the new cemetery.
Present condition: part of one broad face and part of one narrow face survive, the reverse having sheared off.
Description
This is the lower part of a slab which was probably about 0.60m wide and 0.10m in depth. Within a plain flat-band moulding there is on the right-hand side a narrow panel of square key pattern, and occupying the central panel is a frontal angel with elaborate wings and draped robe.
Date range: ninth or tenth century.
