Dalginch, 1/4 mile E of Markinch, is the reputed site of a castle of Macduff. Its more modern name is Brunton, although in 1845 it was called Barnslee, the seat of Mrs Colonel Paston.

New Statistical Account (NSA 1845, J Sieveright)

There is no trace nor any knowledge of a castle at the farms of Dalginch, Barnslee, or Brunton Barnes.
