A stone in the centre of a circular pavement in Kirk Wynd, Auchtermuchty, is called 'the Market Cross'. It is dated '1728', the time when it was erected, and stands on the site of a former cross which was erected about the 16th century.
Name Book 1854.
At 'The Cross' there is a design of a cross inscribed in a circle, marked on the road by paving stones and cobble stones. In the centre of the figure is a stone bearing the date '1827'.
