Archaeology Notes

NL94NW 8.04 95487 45964 and 95527 46014

Two buildings built mainly of concrete are visible on oblique aerial photographs taken in 2009 (RCAHMSAP 2009) are situated to the NE of the junction in the roads, one larger than the other, which is a hut. The large building, possibly an engine house or repair shop is roofed whilst the hut is only partially roofed.

At about 114 WSW of the larger building on the other side of the road (NL 95379 45917) is a small earth banked raised enclosure depicted on the current OS digital maps. It is thought to be of recent date and may be associated with the other military remains in the area.

The buildings are almost certainly linked to the radar station on Beinn Hough.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), January 2010
