Desk Based Assessment (30 June 2017)

Donald’s Quay Light is located on the north bank if the River Clyde, 650m downstream from the Erskine Bridge (NS47SE 70). It was installed in the second half of the 19th century to mark a bend in the river and it is depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 25-inch map (Dumbartonshire, 1898, Sheet 0.22.12), annotated ‘Donald’s Light (Fixed White and Red)’. It was built at the location of Donald’s Quay, depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 25-inch map (Dumbarton, 1864, Sheet XXII.126).
