Archaeology Notes

NO21SE 17 2918 1304.

A stone, dated '1636', is built into the south wall of one of the steading buildings at Newton of Collessie, and there are several pigeon entrances in the west gable, which suggest the former existence of a dovecot.

RCAHMS 1933, visited 1925.

NO 2918 1304 The datestone, as described, also bear the dates '1736' and '1836' and would appear to be an insertion.

No evident of the pigeon-holes could be found.

Visited by OS (W D J) 12 May 1970.
