The building that housed the stables was originally built in the late 17th or early 18th century. It appears to have been built as part of Leifnorris and is shown on the 1756 estat map. It is not mentioned in the John Adam accounts. The existing loose boxes were installed for the Countess of Dumfries in the 1930's. The hay loft is currently used as a conference room and the stables as seating for the cafe in the coach house.
