Watching Brief (9 June 2018 - 23 June 2018)
NT 25772 73567 A watching brief was undertaken, 9 – 23 June 2018, on work associated with the installation of replacement bollards. The site lies within the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, immediately to the SE corner of St Gile’s cathedral, within Parliament Square on the Royal Mile. The remains of an 18th-century wall recorded during the previous watching brief were found, along with a possible post-medieval rubble layer to the W of the wall. Oyster shells and a tile flooring fragment were recovered from the rubble layer.
