Field Visit (2008)

NC37SW 29 33750 71674 (centre)

A number of redundant vehicles have been placed on a broad terrace at the foot of the NE flank of Sgribhis-bheinn (371m OD), a prominent steep-sided hill some 6km E of Cape Wrath, as targets within the Cape Wrath military training area (NC27SE 2). They include five Saxon armoured personnel carriers (CWTC08 312–13, 408–9, 412), two type FV430-series armoured vehicles (CWTC08 315 & 413), two large transport containers (CWTC08 316 & 411) and at least thirteen cars (CWTC08 364–375, 387). The terrace is blanketed with deep peat, which has been heavily disturbed by shelling and bombing. Three small marker cairns (NC37SW 24, 28, & CWTC08 314), the second with yellow hazard warning tape around its top, lie within the target area.

(CWTC08 312–17, 364–75, 387, 408–13)
