Archaeology Notes

NC96SE 127 98633 64711

(Location cited as NC 987 647) Achavrasdale: This iron mine in Caithness appeared to be working until 1873.

Grampian Speloeological Group (2008)

The surface buildings are depicted as roofed and named on the Ordnance Survey 1st-edition, 25-inch map (Caithness, 1878) as 'Mine (Ironstone)'. The railway line spur appears to have been dismantled.

Information from RCAHMS (MMD), 21 July 2008.
