Field Visit (4 May 1988)

NO16SW 20 1068 6315 to 1066 6312.

A hut-circle, a platform and a group of small cairns are situated on the gently sloping ground to the E of the ruins of Carn Dearg.

1. NO 1068 6315 The hut-circle lies 80m due E of the ruins and measures 10.4m in diameter within a stony bank 2m in maximum thickness and from 0.2m to 0.3m in height.

2. NO 1066 6311 The platform has been dug into the foot of a knoll 60m ESE of the ruins. It measures 9.2m in diameter; on the W the backscarp is 0.7m high and on the E the frontscarp is 0.6m high.

About twenty small cairns are scattered across the slope, most of them to the N of the hut-circle. They vary from 2m to 4m in diameter and are up to 0.5m in height.
