Archaeology Notes

NM46NW 8011 unlocated

NLO: Point of Ardnamurchan [name: NM 415 675]

Sound of Mull [name centred NM 58 46].

Possibly within Maritime - Argyll and Bute.

(Classifiied as Wooden Rowboat, in ballast: date of loss cited as 9 February 1910). No Name: this vessel foundered 0.75 miles South of Ardnamurchan Point [Point of Ardnamurchan]. Registration: Ardnamurchan. 1 ton [unspecified].

(Location of loss cited as N56 43.0 W6 14.0).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The map sheet assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary, being derived from the unverified location of loss that is cited by Whittaker. The vessel was apparently lost within the Western approach to the Sound of Mull, possibly within the quasi-administrative area designated as Maritime - Argyll and Bute.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 2 April 2008.
