KILLEGRAY (Ceilleagraigh Sound of Harris) This verdant island just south of Ensay has for some time been owned by an Englishman and has not been permanently occupied since the mid-20th century. Killegray House - a late 18th-century farmhouse of two storeys and garrets with a later wing, until the 1830s occupied by the Campbells of Strond, a big farming family from South Harris. Renovated 1991 by Stuart Bagshaw & Assocs, who removed external render to expose masonry and re-lined the interior with timber.

Taken from "Western Seaboard: An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Mary Miers, 2008. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
