Archaeology Notes

NS47NW 71 centred 4209 7778

A large area of rig-and-furrow cultivation has been identified from oblique aerial photographs taken in September 2007 (RCAHMS 2007), to the W of the Garshake Burn and on both the W and E of the track leading N.

The rig-and-furrow consists mainly of the narrow type, but there are small areas of broad rig to the S and extreme W of the area. About 36 hectares of cultivation could be seen on the photographs, but it is likely that more is extant outwith the area covered by the images.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), December 2007
