The magazine is situated about 130m NW of Craigiehall House (NT17NE 29.00).

The magazine is set down behind earthen banks and within a brick wall topped with concrete coping stones. There is space all the way round between the block and the brick wall.

Measuring about 18.8m x 6.2m overall, the room has a flat concrete roof. Entrances is gained through the earth banks at the NW and SW corners.

The operations room was built around 1953-4 and controlled the anti-aircraft defences for all of Scotland. The building is still in use as a magazine.
