NLO: Broadford [name: NG 647 233]

Broadford Bay [name centred NG 653 239]

Inner Sound [name centred NG 64 40]

Skye [name centred NG 45 35].

Possibly on map sheet NG62SE.

Kyleakin, 28th Sept. The CYMRIE LLOYD (smk), of Stornoway, while running for the harbour of Broadford, on the 23rd Sept., missed the entrance, came on shore at the Millburn, and sustained considerable damage.

Source: LL, No. 16,996, London, Saturday, October 3 1868.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 11500).

(Classified as sloop: no cargo specified, but date of loss cited as September 1868). Cynnie Lloyd (Cynric Lloyd?): this vessel was wrecked [stranded] at Broadford.

Registration: Stornoway. Built 1843, 15 tons burthern. Length: 10m. Beam: 3m.

(location of loss cited as N57 15.0 W5 54.0).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The location of the Millburn cannot be established from the available map evidence. 'Broadford Harbour' is presumably to be equated with the Old Pier (NG62SW 96) at NG 64532 23550.

The correct form of the name of this vessel remains unverified. That cited in the primary account is preferred.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 17 April 2002.
