Archaeology Notes

NH68NW 8001 c. 63 88

N57 52 W4 19

NLO: Little Creich [name: NH 638 892]

Creich Mains [name: NH 643 887]

Dornoch Firth [name centred NH 87 89].

Montrose, 11th Mar. The MATILDA (schr.), of this port, McGill, from Bonar, has drifted ashore a little below the Manse of Creich, but though fast she does not appear to be much damaged.

Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 14,022, London, Monday March 14 1859.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 9654).

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. Creich Old Manse (NH68NW 37.00) is at NH 6370 8936.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), possibly suggesting her successful reciovery.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 15 November 2006.
