[NX64NE 8086]. Kirkcudbright, 10th Dec. A small boat was cast ashore in this river a few days ago, supposed to belong to the ANN (sloop), McIntyre, which left Maryport for this place on the 1st Dec., and has not since been heard of. It blew a heavy gale on that and the following day.

Bowmore, 15th Dec. The ANN (schr.), McIntyre, from Cairnlough to Dublin, in putting into Port Ellen harbour, ran upon the rocks.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. Port Ellen harbour is of natural formation, comprising the sheltered water of Loch Leodomais. Port Ellen Pier (NR36NE 65) is situated on the NW side of the mouth of the loch, at NR 3631 4501.
