Archaeology Notes

NC40SE 37 NC 49465 03570

NC 491 042 (centre) An archaeological assessment of a forested area was undertaken in August 2005 as part of an EIA for a proposed windfarm. No sites were identified in the course of the desk-based assessment. The walkover survey was limited to rides and other areas clear of forestry. A single possible site was identified: a partially overgrown mound of stones, 4.2 x 2 x 1.5m (NC 49465 03570). The mound was surrounded by a post-and-wire fence, presumably placed to protect it, but local enquiries yeilded no information. The mound may represent a cairn.

Report lodged with Highland SMR.
