Archaeology Notes

NH76NE 8017 c. 78 67

N57 41 W4 3

NLO: Cromarty [name: NH 786 677]

Cromarty Firth [name centred NH 69 67].

Cromarty, 30th Mar. The ELIZABETH (brig), Alexander, of and from Fraserburg [Fraserburgh], for Newcastle, missed stays and went on shore, has received no damage, but is not expected off before the next stream.

Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 13,418, London, Thursday April 2 1857.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 9354).

The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably suggesting her successful recovery.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 18 October 2006.
