NLO: Cromarty [name: NH 786 677]

Cromarty Firth [name centred NH 69 67].

Cromarty, 27th Dec. The JANETTE, Lovell, of and for Newcastle, from Brora, ran on shore in the night of the 25th Dec., is making water, and will have to discharge part of cargo.

Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 13,338, London, Tuesday December 30 1856.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 9302).

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative, being that of the port of report.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably suggesting her successful recovery.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 16 October 2006.
