NLO: Loch Dunvegan [name centred NG 21 53]

Dunvegan Head [name centred NG 177 568]

Waternish Point [name: NG 232 671]

Skye [name centred NG 45 35].

Possibly on map sheets NG15NW, or NG25NW.

Corry Broadford, Isle of Skye, 1st Sept. The EULALIE, of Yarmouth, McFarlane, with coals, tar, butter, for this island and Sutherland, was stranded at Dunvegan, 29th Aug., and has suffered considerable damage: cargo landing and expected to be all saved.

Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 13,242, London, Monday September 8 1856.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 9270).

The map sheet assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. Loch Dunvegan is an extensive loch set into the NW side of Skye, to the W of Waternish.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably suggesting her successful recovery.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 11 October 2006.
