A row of three cottages, all reduced to grass-grown footings, is situated along the E edge of a field of pasture 400m S of Balmenach Distillery (NJ02NE 9). The cottages, together with a fourth, which stood immediately to the N and of which there is now no trace, are depicted roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Elginshire 1874, sheet XXXIII). Only one (unroofed) cottage is shown on the 2nd edition of the map (Elginshire 1905, sheet XXXIII.NW).
