Two Nissen huts and a two storey building now empty situated at the W end of the West Breakwater immediately S of the former Memorial Hall.

Noted as the Rum Store, Gymnasium and 0.22 Rifle Range on the Civil Engineers plan of 1959 (185/62, 12 October 1959).

Activities

Project (March 2013 - September 2013)

A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.

Note (4 October 2013)

The date of construction of the existing building is unclear. The buildings are similar but do not match the depiction on the 4th epoch OS maps and therefore may date to the post First World War..
