Archaeology Notes

NT58NE 8044 c. 55 85

N56 3 W2 43

NLO: North Berwick [name: NT 55 85].

Not to be confused with NT48SE 8020 or NT79NE 8008.

Possibly on map sheet NT58NW.

Dunbar, 28th Dec. The COMMERCIAL PACKET, Adams, from St. Andrew's to Cromarty, (with a cargo of barley), was run ashore yesterday, at North Berwick, in a sinking state.

Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 11,162, London, Saturday December 29 1849.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 8539).

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. The loss of this vessel may have occurred within the area of map sheet NR58NW.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), possibly suggesting her successful recovery.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 5 September 2006.
