Archaeology Notes

NS56NW 79.03 c.5012 6543

A type 27 pillbox has been identified from RAF WW II vertical air photographs (A309, 2606, 2609-2610, flown 1 May 1941), situated on the S side of Arkleston Road about 50m W of where the two parts of the road rejoin and about 290m NW of South Arkleston farmsteading.

The pillbox can be clearly seen on the photograph and is surrounded by a circle of barbed-wire fencing.
