The stop butt (NY 00345 78751) and rifle range (NY 00370 78761), are situated about 188m N of the arc of hangars (NY07NE 47.00).
The brick and reinforced concrete stop butt, for testing aircraft machine guns and cannon would appear to be of a standard type.
Immediately to the E is a 25yd machine gun range with a brick wall and firing point.
The stop butt and rifle range are visible on vertical air photographs (106G/UK 1314, 5010-5012, flown 27 March 1946) amd on RAF WW II air photographs (FNO 158, 6.5 and 6.11, flown 26 September 1942).
