This basin in the the Edinburgh and Glasgow Union Canal (NS87NE 31.00: LIN 18) was built as part of the Millennium Link project to provide waiting space at the S end of the tunnel NS87NE 31.05. It thus forms part of the southern approach to the Falkirk Wheel (NS88SE 198).
