Weir and sluices, Bunhouse Mills, Kelvingrove Park. A low masonry weir across the [River] Kelvin, with six sluices controlling the flow of water to the lade and three controlling the overflow. Now derelict, though water still flow through the lade to Regent Mills.
J R Hume 1974.
This weir and associated features cross the River Kelvin to the N of Kelvingrove Museum (NS56NE 329), and within the area of Kelvingrove Park (NS56NE 328). The river here forms the boundary between the parishes of Govan (to the N) and Glasgow (to the S).
The NGR assigned to this record defines the centre of the weir. Taken together, these features extend from NS 56752 66473 to NS 56706 66431; the footbridge and sluices are to the SW of the weir.
This weir and sluices supplied a controlled flow of water to the lade (NS56NE 1076.01) to the Regent Flour Mills (NS56NE 1076.00).
