Archaeology Notes

NN59SE 50 5760 9032

In a small forest clearing a cluster of large boulders and indeterminate earthworks were recorded during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The area measures around 15m x 8m with visible boulders up to 1.5m long. They form no clear feature but may indicate the presence of a sub-surface or highly disturbed site. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest.
