Archaeology Notes

NN58NE 19 5842 8970

On a rocky knoll in a small clearing within the forest a drystone constructed cairn was recorded during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest. The base of the cairn is 0.5mm square and exists to 4 courses (0.9m) in height, tapering in from the base to a single stone on top.
