A drove route was recorded here during a detailed desktop and walkover survey of Strathmashie Forest ahead of a proposed heritage trail. Enough archaeological features were found to make the trail worthwhile. The drove route is marked on the 1st edition OS map of 1872. It was seen as a 4.5m-wide track in the dense spruce plantation. It appears to have been dug into the hillside and banked in some places, and other areas to the E have been made into forestry tracks or removed altogether.
