Archaeology Notes

NS54NE 94 5599 4967 to 5598 4972

Several circular and kidney-shaped hollows or depressions were recorded here during a field survey of the farmlands of Hol-Hall, carried out between May 2004 to March 2005. The circular cuts range from 1.75m to 5.5m in diameter, while the kidney hollows range from 4.75m to 7m in length. All the features are no more than 0.2m deep. A series of banks are also in evidence, as are two horn-shaped depressions which radiate from a circular depression 6m in diameter. The features are all closre together and do not appear to be the result of peat cutting.
