This small power station was constructed (by the South of Scotland Electricty Board) in 1983-4 as the first hydro-electric power station to be bult by them. It uses water released from the Drumjohn needle valve (part of NX59NW 45) into Carsphairn Lane, and is designed for unmanned operation.

The location of this building could not be accurately established from the available map evidence. It is probably to be equated with a building at NX 52197 97353, on the W side of the Carsphairn Lane, and falls within the area of the field-system NX59NW 18..
This power station may be considered as a late addition to the Galloway Hydro-electric Scheme.
