Archaeology Notes

ND34NE 43 c. 3568 4850

Nothing is now visible of what was probably a burnt mound, which stood about 360m E of the broch at Humster (ND34NE 3) and immediately NW of the A99(T) public road. The mound, which measured at least 20m in diameter by 1.2m in height and is described as comprising 'burnt stone', was recorded on a pen-and-wash illustrated by RI Shearer about 1871 (DC 44305).
