Field Visit (6 August 1942)

This site was included within the RCAHMS Emergency Survey (1942-3), an unpublished rescue project. Field Visit (22 February 1971)

A "two-poster" as described. There is no evidence to suggest a stone circle. Surveyed at 1:10560 scale.

Field Visit (8 October 1986)

This pair of standing stones lies to the NE of the public road (A984) and is unusually situated at the foot of a steep slope at the rear of a terrace overlooking the River Tay. The N stone, which leans slightly to the W, rises to a height of 2.1m, and the S stone is 1.6m high.

Measured Survey (8 October 1986)

RCAHMS surveyed the standing stones at Newtyle (NO04SW 7) with plane-table and alidade on 8 October 1986 at a scale of 1:125. The resultant plan was redrawn in ink.
