Archaeology Notes

HY43SW 22 unlocated.

In the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) there is a specimen (of vitrified material?) from a "vitrified fort" on the island of Rousay Orkney, presented by James Traill Esq., in 1787.

A Way 1849.

No knowledge of vitrifaction in Rousay. Could this specimen be from a burnt mound?

Visited by OS(AA) 18 October 1972.
