Loch Bay [name centred NG 260 555]

Islay [name centred NR 38 60]

Skye [name centred NG 45 35].

Ardmore, Isle of Skye, 29 Dec. 'The whole of the cargo, and some of the materials of the COMMERCIAL PACKET, from Stromness to Newry, lately wrecked near here, have been saved.'

Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 5976, London, Tuesday January 11 1825.

NMRS, MS/829/71 (no. 6394).

(No classification specified: cargo cited as herring, and date of loss as November 1824). Commercial Packet: this vessel was wrecked near Ardmore, Islay. Stromness-Newry.

(Location of loss cited as N55 41.00 W6 1.00).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. That cited by Whittaker is evidently incorrect, as the vessel stranded on Skye, rather than Islay.

The date of loss cited by Whittaker remains unverified, but is accepted.
