TWEED, steam tug, sank in Leith Harbour Jan. 4. (Leith, Jan. 4, 2.45 p.m.).

TWEED, an attempt was made at Leith today (5th) to float the sunken tug TWEED by means of lighters, but failed, owing to the tug taking the ground at the Victoria Dock Jetty, where she remained. When the tide receded men were engaged pumping the water out, and it is expected that the tug will be floated next tide. (Leith, Jan. 5).

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably on grounds of her successful recovery.
