Archaeology Notes

HY32NE 74 3800 2674

Nothing could be seen of a bombing target indicator which has been identified from a RAF vertical air photograph (541(A) 390, 3442, flown 18 May 1948), on the headland at Little Gurness.

The photograph shows that the target indicator consisted of a marker arrow, two bars, three concrete blocks and one small structure. The arrow points to the NW.

Visited by RCAHMS (DE), August 1999
