Archaeology Notes

HY40NE 27.06 47550 07505 and 47677 07612

One large aircraft hangar, possibly a Bellman or 'T' type, has been identified on RAF vertical air photogrpahs (LEU/UK2, 7117-7121, flown 16 April 1948) on the S side of the A960 road immediately S of West Waterhall farmsteading. In addition the grass grown concrete bases for two further hangars are also visible on the photographs.

It is not known whether the concrete bases for the hangars are still extant in an area now cut through by drains.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), December 2004.
