(HY 42952880) Brough (NR)

OS 6"map, Orkney, 2nd ed.,(1900).

On the top of "Knitchin" is a cairn of fairly large stones, rising to a height of 5ft.6in. Owing to slip it is difficult to determine the true diameter but it seems to having been about 50ft. It is erroneously marked "Brough" on the OS map.

RCAHMS 1946. Visited 1928.

A cairn c.12.5m in diameter and 2.0m high. The S side has been partly removed probably to build the modern cairn which occupies the summit.

Surveyed at 1/10,000

Visited by OS(ISS) 8 October 1972.
