Field Visit (1 September 1997)

Two hut-circles are situated on a terrace at the SW end of a low, heather-grown, ridge to the E of the Drumbuie Burn. The larger (URQ97 7) measures 6.8m in diameter within a stony bank spread to 1.7m in thickness and 0.4m in height. The entrance is on the SE and is approached by a possible path. The other (URQ97 8), which lies some 10m to the W, has been reduced to a shallow depression measuring 3.8m in diameter within a bank no more than 0.2m in height. The entrance is marked by a dip in the crest of the bank on the E.

The hut-circles lie on the northern fringe of a scatter of at least twenty small cairns, the largest of which measures 5m in diameter and no more than 0.5m in height. The distribution of cairns extends off the ridge as far as the W bank of an unnamed tributary of the Drumbuie Burn. The surface of the ground between the cairns is noticeably smoother than in adjacent areas.
