21 October 1875, JOHN AND ISABELLA, 27 yrs old, of S. Shields, wooden brig, 204 tons, 7 crew, Owner G. Wardell, Sunderland, departed Gefle for Sunderland, carrying timber, stranded, total loss, 7 lives lost, wind SSE10, near Dunnottar Castle, Kincardineshire.

Stonehaven, 22nd Oct., 1.15 p.m., the JOHN & ISABELLA (brig)(Off. No., 24,737), of South Shields, is a total wreck at Dunotter [Dunnottar] Castle: crew all drowned.

Aberdeen, 23rd Oct., 11.55 a.m., the brig JOHN & ISABELLA, of Sunderland, supposed timber laden, has been wrecked near Stonehaven: crew supposed lost: one body cast ashore.
