Archaeology Notes

NT47SW 46.06 44939 73207 and 45115 73284

Two double protected dispersal bays are situated in an area between the new A1 dual carriageway and the Gladsmuir roundabouts. Both are earth banked, each having an air-raid shelter with staggered entrances set within the banking. The lower banking within the bays has been revetted with low brick walls and tarmac has been laid to provide hardstanding between the banks.

Almost equidistant between the two dispersal bays is a brick and concrete airfield crew rest building (NT 45014 73247).
