A WW II type 24 pillbox has been identified from vertical air photographs (F22 540/RAF/1383, 124-7, flown 7 August 1954). The structure is also shown on the current OS digital 1:2500 scale map, set into a slope about 200m W of East Mathers Cottage. More recent air photography (OS 67/287, flown 1967 shows the structure to be grass covered. The pillbox is one of three protecting the bays between Tangleha' Cottages and Seagreens.
